Thanks for asking.
With the prices of fuel on the upsurge again, a lot of individuals are on the search for great ways of commuting more than ever, a lot of commuters are beginning to car pool or just take public transit. A lot of urbanites depend only on public transit and taxis to move around in the city; when they go on longer travel they rent vehicles. There are now at least twenty US cities where auto-sharing clubs have been started. If you are a club member you can rent a club owned vehicle hourly. This provides individuals who rarely need a vehicle access to a car without having to get, maintain or store one while residing in the city.
This is ideal until something occurs. What are the results if you have an incident while utilizing one of these cars? Who will be the authorized party to shell out for injuries or damage?
You will really think that the club has insurance to indemnify for any accidents that happen, and it is feasible. Although, you might not like to depend on the club’s insurance:
* It is out of your hand if the club is late with a payment and without you knowing has no coverage.
* Your specific car may not be protected under the policy if it was not on the original policy. You have no assurance that the club’s policy will outrightly cover a newly procured car.
* A policy condition may be brushed aside by the club, providing the insurance firm sufficient reason to reject the claim.
* The insurance itself may not include protection to you for this specific kind of loss.
As a vehicle club member you are likely to have no hand over the amount and/or terms of the club’s insurance statement, nor will you have any comment if a certain claim is filed. These same concerns come up if you rent a vehicle or borrow a friend. As unusual as it may appear, you should think about getting your own Discount Car Insurance policy.
